Nazire Koreli was a former teacher who disappeared last September

The daughter of a former South London school teacher who has been missing for a year says “not a day has passed without questions.” Nazire Koreli, 55, disappeared last September – leaving her family’s life changed forever.

“My world stood still the day I discovered my mother was missing. Since then, not a day has passed without questions. She was a teacher for many years, beloved by many. A mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and now a grandmother,” said her daughter.

“I have had to learn to live with the unknown and be strong for my family’s sake. But while she is missing, and we have no answers, life will never be the same.

Nazire was reported missing on February 28 this year, after last being seen close to her home in Welling in September 2024. A man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of her murder on March 10 but has since been released on bail as enquiries continue.

Her daughter is appealing to the public to come forward with any information which might find her mum. She said: “If you have any information, no matter how small, that could help us find her, or bring us some closure, I urge you to please contact the police. Even the smallest detail could make a difference.”

Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley of Specialist Crime South said: “It’s been a year since Nazire was last seen and her family remain without the answers they deserve. We continue to keep an open mind and share our optimism with Nazire’s family that she will be found safe and well.

“Nazire had many friends and acquaintances in the Bexley area and we are asking anyone who knew her to think back and contact us if they saw her between September 2024 and March 2025. She is described as a woman of a slim build, with light brown hair and olive skin. If you have seen her, please contact us.”

A £20,000 reward is being offered by independent charity Crimestoppers for anyone with information which could help with the ongoing investigation. The reward will be offered for a period of three months and anyone who contacts the charity will say completely anonymous.

Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111 or via their website. Information can also be passed to the police via their Public Portal, or by calling 101 or post @MetCC ref CAD 5678 of 28 February.
