Reverse parking is something many drivers struggle with, but experts have shared an easy hack to help you nail the tricky technique every time – in just four steps

This trick will have you reverse parking with ease in no time.

Let’s face it, reverse parking is one of the most annoying parts of driving a car, with only its evil cousin parallel parking coming close. Many of us spend several minutes trying to line our vehicles up perfectly with the space, only to find that when we reverse, we’re too close to the car next to us, or we’re not parked straight.

Parking incorrectly can annoy the other drivers around you, and could even be dangerous if you end up hitting another vehicle and causing an accident, so it’s important to get it right. And thankfully, there’s an easy way to learn how to reverse park perfectly every time – in just four steps.

Driving experts at Zutobi shared an informative video on their TikTok account @zutobi in which they showed us all how reverse parking should be done. And it turns out it’s way easier than many of us made it seem.

The 42-second video used a parking simulation to show us all how it should be done, as the experts talked through the four “easy” steps needed to nail the technique every single time. The video specifically showed how to park in a car park, and was aimed at US drivers, although the hack should work no matter where you are.

They said: “Step one: activate your turn signal [indicator] and position your car a car-width away from the parked vehicle. Ensure that your brake lights are aligned with those of the other vehicle.

“Step two: turn the steering wheel fully in the direction you want to reverse. Slowly back up, using your mirrors to guide you. Step three: once straightened, return the steering wheel to the centre.

“Step four: continue to reverse until your car is parked neatly in the spot.”

While this hack might seem obvious to seasoned drivers who have been reverse parking without issue for years, many commenters on the post who struggle with the technique praised the experts for sharing the trick.

One person wrote: “That was so useful!” While another responded: “Very useful, will try. Thank you!”

Others explained that while they believed they were pros are reverse parking, other types of parking left them baffled. Someone shared: “I love reverse parking, I always do it. The forward parking is what I hate the most, even parallel I prefer.” As someone else posted: “I’m a pro at this parking, but I struggle with parallel.”
