Nando’s has revealed plans to open 14 new restaurants across the UK before February next year.
The expansion includes some sites that have already opened, with new locations including Bedford, Derby, Peterborough, Bishop Auckland, Maidenhead, Sheffield, Edinburgh Gyle, Paddington and Liverpool Edge Lane.
It comes after Nando’s opened 12 UK sites a year earlier. The peri-peri restaurant chain it is accelerating its UK restaurant openings after it reported stronger sales and profits for the past year.
Nando’s saw its revenues climb 8% to £1.48billion for the previous financial year, to February 23, 2025. Meanwhile, its operating profits more than doubled to £146.6million for the year, from £59.8million.
But the company said it faces increased cost pressures, after employer National Insurance and the minimum wage both increased in April.
Nando’s said it has been trying to offset these through productivity improvements, such as rolling out energy efficient grills in the UK and Ireland to reduce energy costs.
It added: “While these actions have been effective in mitigating some of the impact, we anticipate that cost pressures will continue to affect our overall performance in the current financial year.”
Rob Papps, group chief executive of Nando’s, said: “The 2025 financial year saw Nando’s continue to deliver a strong sales performance driven by robust consumer demand for our flame-grilled peri-peri chicken supported by our strong brand and customer proposition.
“The macro-economic outlook for the financial year ending February 2026 remains uncertain, however we see significant growth potential in all our markets and are continuing to invest for the future, with further menu innovation, enhancements to our digital capabilities and new restaurant openings planned in all our markets, including 14 in the UK.”
It comes after Nando’s announced its Christmas menu for 2025 including the new Total Sleigh burger, which contains chicken breast with melted cheese, bubble and squeak croquettes, caramelised onions, lettuce and Churrasco PERinaise in a rustic roll.
The bubble and squeak croquettes are available as a side too. These are crispy croquettes filled with shredded Brussels sprouts, mash and red onion and served with Caesar dressing for dipping.
It’s served with PERi-Chicken Gravy on the side too. For dessert, there’s a new warm chocolate orange brownie which is described as “super fudgy” and covered in a layer of chocolate with an orange twist.
