Lucy Sharp admitted she’s having a bit of a dilemma at home. Her neighbour is doing something “outrageous” at night, and she doesn’t know what she can do to stop it
A woman admitted her neighbour does something “outrageous” at nighttime that she doesn’t know how to deal with, and it’s not the first time a neighbour has caused a problem recently. Lucy Sharp told the story online, and it’s left people a little perplexed, as the situation is so unusual.
In a TikTok video shared online, Lucy said she doesn’t know whether she should mind her own business or do something to try and better the issue, as she’s worried the situation may worsen. In a candid clip, she detailed what she discovered in her neighbour’s garden, and she’s worried about how it will impact on the neighbour’s property, as well as their financial situation.
Lucy admitted there’s no “first-time buyers’ guide” for this sort of problem, so she turned to social media for help. When it comes to living next door to someone, all sorts of problems can arise in the garden.
In the clip, she said: “It’s 11.30pm at night, everyone on the road is in bed, but next-door-but-one’s outside tap – it’s running, [full] pressure, onto the floor. The water bill is going to be outrageous.
“No one’s got their lights on. Do we knock and wake them up, and say ‘your outside tap’s running’? What are you supposed to do in this situation? So, we’re just going to go to bed.”

Lucy and her partner then show themselves going to bed, and they do some research to see how much it will cost their neighbours to keep the tap running overnight. It’s estimated it could set them back between £12 to £26 at full blast, which is less than they thought.
The video has quickly gone viral, having been viewed over 70,000 times since it was shared. Hundreds of people also commented to offer their thoughts on the matter too.
One replied, saying: “Knock, or go turn it off. I would be gutted if someone knew my tap was on, and didn’t let me know.” Another wrote: “Literally, just knock and say ‘your tap is running’. It’s not that late, lol.”
A third replied: “This is such a non-issue. Just go and knock the door.” Meanwhile, a fourth commented: “I wouldn’t care what time someone knocks my door if it’s for something like that.”
Someone else also chimed in with: “I would literally not be able to sleep knowing that was happening. I’d feel the guilt of being a bad human.”
While some people advised they could just turn the tap off, you shouldn’t actually do this without the property owner’s permission. When you do so without their consent, it could count as an illegal trespass and an invasion of their property rights.
This is why it’s essential to speak to the homeowner first before taking matters into your own hands. You should always speak to a neighbour before entering their property.
If you ever feel that there is an unauthorised connection on your property, you can contact your water company for advice on how to handle the matter too.
