A man has been mowing half of a resident’s lawn as they don’t like the look of unkempt grass, but when it comes to finishing the yard off, it’s a firm no from the lawn-obsessed neighbour
A resident found their neighbour has started mowing their lawn as part of a “weird project”. The neighbour from hell doesn’t seem to know they’re causing trouble, though the resident has made it clear they don’t appreciate the mowing. Despite being warned not to mow the lawn again, the neighbour has continued to do so, and left the anonymous resident at a loss of what to do.
They have since taken to the r/NeighboursfromHell Reddit page, a forum where people seek solutions to their nightmare neighbours. The resident said one side of the yard looked like a “golf course” but the other half was left a “scraggly jungle”.
Not only that, but the resident was told to not touch their side of the grass, as the neighbour made it clear it messed with the lines of his own mowing.
The resident wrote: “My neighbour mows only half my lawn. Every single week. This guy next door has a perfect lawn obsession. Like he trims his grass with scissors obsessed. At first I thought he was just being nice because I came home and half my yard was freshly mowed. Exactly half. The line is razor sharp, like a haircut with a ruler.
“Week after week he does it. Always stops at the invisible border he decided on, which is about 3 feet into my yard. So now my lawn looks like it has a before-and-after photo. One side golf course, other side scraggly jungle.
“I asked him why he keeps doing it and he said ‘because I can’t stand uneven lines when I look out my window’. I told him then mow the whole yard. He said ‘that’s your job’.”
The resident has since tried to reason with their neighbour from hell but nothing’s stopped the strange mowing technique.
They added: “So basically I’m trapped. If I mow my side it messes up his lines and he complains. If I leave it, it looks insane and he still complains.
“If I try to mow the part he already did, he literally comes outside and yells at me not to ‘ruin the pattern.’ My yard has turned into his weird lawn art project and I’m losing my mind.”
Members of the public have all shared the same solution to this mowing misery, with a fence suggested by many. One person wrote: “You need a fence.” Another added: “Fences make great neighbours.”
A third said if a fence were not the solution, then being firm with the neighbour would work. They wrote: “Tell him to stay off your property. He is trespassing. I had to confront my non attached neighbour about it. I reminded her about the he property line.
“She used my front yard as walking path to go visit my attached neighbour who had already told her to use the sidewalk. So one day when I saw her cutting across I told her no more.
“I also caught her spraying insecticide and weed killer and other things in my yard. That got confronted and I told her this was the final time. Next time I would call the police. It all stopped.”
