Having professional gel, or ‘shellac’, manicures done regularly are one of the most popular beauty treatments nowadays but, typically at upwards of £35 a time, it can be an expensive habit to keep up. However, a new home gel kit has just launched that gets you the gel look for a tenth of the cost.

Iconic nail care brand Nails.INC has just launched its first home gel set. Nails.INC gelLED Manicure Starter Kit costs £50 and contains everything you need to create 14 professional-looking gel manis at home, including tools, LED lamp and a pretty pink shade of polish. Cheaper than some of the other home LED kits, using this Nails.INC kit means that each of your DIY manicures will cost £3.57; a fraction of the cost of going to the salon.

Promising ‘salon-quality results only a cure away’, the LED lamp in this kit cures the special gel polish in 30 seconds while leaving your nails looking super-glossy. With enough to do 14 manis, the box includes:

  • LED Lamp
  • 2-in-1 Nail File and Buffer
  • Gel Nail Cleanser
  • Gel Nail Primer
  • 2-in-1 Base Coat & Top Coat
  • Gel Colour- Pink Chiffon
  • Cuticle Stick
  • 12x Lint Free Wipes
  • Remover Dropper
  • 10x Foil Sachets
  • Remover Tool

The set comes with the shade Pink Chiffon, a timeless pretty pale pink hue, but if you want to build up your kit, there are 15 other shades you can buy separately, priced at £9 each.

While sets such as this one are fairly easy to grasp if you follow the instructions, one top tip from nail pros when attempting your own gel manicure is to always use nail polishes and LED lamps from the same brand. This is because they’ll have been created to work together to cure properly; mixing and matching different polish brands can result in uncured polish, which is one of the main causes of irritation from doing your own gels.

Another popular at-home gel bundle is the Mylee Nail It Kit – we’ve given it a full review here. The set would usually set you back £157 but it’s currently down to a more purse-friendly £84 – that means after just one or two uses you’ll probably have made back your money compared to shelling out for professional manicures.

And when it comes time to remove your polish, our beauty and wellness editor Laura Mulley (who’s also a trained nail technician) has shared these top tips for making the process as quick and easy as possible.
