A 55-year-old man has been rushed to hospital following a stabbing in New Cross during the early hours of Saturday morning (August 16). Police were called to New Cross Road shortly after 5.30am to reports a man had been knifed.
The busy South London road has been shut throughout this morning between New Cross Gate station and the Marquis of Granby pub. Another man, aged 36, has been arrested following the incident and remains in police custody.
Pictures from the scene show an emergency cordon in place surrounding a bus, while clothes and medical equipment are strewn across the road. Two buses – the 136 and 171 routes – have been diverted due to the closure.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called to reports of a stabbing in New Cross Road. A scene is in place while police investigate the circumstances.”
