The Weasley family of the new Harry Potter series has been spotted for the first time while filming at King’s Cross. Film crews were at the station yesterday (Monday, August 25) and onlookers got their first glimpse of the beloved characters.
HBO’s new Harry Potter series has been spotted filming around London over the last month. Fans have spotted the protagonist, Harry Potter, and Hagrid filming in London, but the Weasley family had remained a mystery until yesterday.
Pictures published in the Daily Mail show Ron, Ginny, Fred, George, and Molly on their way to the infamous Platform 9¾. Ron Weasley, played by 11 year old Alastair Stout, was seen carrying a coat and bags while filming his departure to Hogwarts.
The rest of the Weasleys are dressed in bright and patterned 70s style clothes, looking slightly mismatched but in the ever-loved Weasley way.
This new series has long-time Harry Potter fans waiting in anxious anticipation. It was first announced in 2023 and is currently set to premier in 2027. HBO, known for Game of Thrones and White Lotus, have taken on the new adaptation.
With season 1 being 8 episodes long, this new series has pledged to stay true to the books, potentially offering more details and characters then the movies were able to. The cast was finalized in May of this year. Alongside Ron, we will see Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger.
Six-time Emmy winner John Lithgow will transform into Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore. Other castings include Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch and Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley.
Although HBO programmes regularly appear on Sky channels, it has not yet been confirmed where UK viewers can watch this new adaptation.
