Oasis fans have noticed Liam and Noel Gallagher have been seemingly enjoying themselves more and more on stage as the tour has gone one and things went a step further during the first night at Wembley Stadium. After walking on stage on Friday (July 25) hand in hand to huge cheers from the sold out crowd, Noel bowed to Liam and his younger brother turned round to them applaud him.
After their run of homecoming gigs in Manchester’s Heaton Park, the Gallagher brothers Liam and Noel are now in London for seven gigs between Friday and the end of September. Friday is Oasis’ first Wembley gig since July 12, 2009, when they performed during their Dig Out Your Soul tour.
Fans had hoped Noel and Liam would pay tribute to Ozzy Osbourne as the first night in Wembley was their first gig since the Black Sabbath frontman died on Tuesday (July 22) aged 76. They did not disappoint as a fan inside Wembley said they were playing Ozzy Osbourne’s version of ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’ before coming on stage.
Later in the gig they dedicated Live Forever to the heavy metal icon. Liam said: “That one was dedicated to Ozzy Osbourne, a Rock N Roll Star.” He then launched into Rock N Roll Star.
Noel has previously talked about the advice Ozzy gave him in an interview with Absolute Radio in 2023. Despite his Manchester roots, Noel lived in Buckinghamshire for a long time, and had an estate in Chalront St Giles.
And recalling one encounter with Ozzy, who also lived in the area, Noel said: “Ozzy used to live near me out in Buckinghamshire.”
Putting on his best Brummie accent, Noel continued: “He said to me once, ‘Bit of advice for you and your brother, try and smile a bit more!’ And we were like, ‘Oh, thanks for that, thank you,’ you know.”
During Friday’s gig, while playing guitar alongside Oasis co-founder Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, Noel leant over and gave Bonehead a kiss on the cheek. Fans went wild and cheered as the moment was shown on the big screen inside Wembley. The Mainly Oasis X account posted in response: “Noel is absolutely loving this tour. Just doing it for the money they said!”
