A North London teenager has been jailed for stabbing a 36-year-old man to death in a “brutal cold-blooded assault”. On October 19, 2023, Keven Kelenda, 18, was seen standing on Kensal Rise.
He then followed the victim, Tyrone Pinnock, and confronted him, the Wood Green Crown Court heard. Kelenda then produced a lock knife and stabbed Tyrone in the chest. Tyrone passed away at the scene shortly afterwards. The Metropolitan Police says it’s unclear what Kelenda’s motive was.
A murder investigation was launched as detectives were able to quickly identify the attacker using CCTV footage. Kelenda, of Kenton Park Crescent, Harrow, was arrested six days later on October 25, 2023 and charged with murder on October 27, 2023.
Yesterday (Monday, May 19) Kelenda was sentenced to 17 years in prison at Wood Green Crown Court for the murder of Tyrone Pinnock. He had previously been found guilty of murder at the same court on March 28.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Clarke, who led the Met’s investigation, said: “Tyrone was killed in a brutal cold-blooded assault which lasted seconds, but was so severe he died at the scene.
“Our thoughts remain as always with Tyrone’s friends and family as they move forward with their lives, safe in the knowledge that Kelenda is behind bars where he belongs.”
