A South London road is blocked in both directions after a bus collided with a railway bridge this morning (Thursday, June 5). A215 Portland Road near Norwood Junction is currently shut between Manor Road and Norwood High Street while investigation work is carried out.

A video of the aftermath shows the roof of the double-decker bus became completely detached after it struck the bridge. It appears the incident happened while a new driver was being trained.

Trains were initially halted following the crash at about 12.30pm before services resumed at 1pm. Disruption is expected to continue until 3pm with transport bosses warning of delays and cancellations.

Live traffic maps show the incident has led to delays on the A213 between Anerley and Selhurst Park, but the disruption is limited on surrounding roads.
