Fans say they are “100% sure” Ozzy Osbourne is set to get a special tribute at Oasis’ upcoming Wembley shows during one specific key moment of the set. Osbourne died on Tuesday (July 22) just weeks after he played a farewell Back to the Beginning concert with Black Sabbath at Villa Park on July 5.
Oasis will be taking to Wembley Stadium for seven nights starting on Friday (July 25) for a series of huge sold out shows in front 90,000 crowds each night. Fans are convinced the legendary Manchester band will hold a tribute for the iconic heavy metal singer during their performance of Live Forever on Friday.
Liam and Noel Gallagher previously displayed an image of 28-year-old Liverpool forward Diogo Jota who had died the day before in a car crash on the first day of their comeback tour at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium. The footballer was shown on stage to the outro of Oasis’ moving song Live Forever while the 75,000 strong audience gave a huge applause.
It has been predicted that this moment is likely to be recreated in honour of Osbourne. An Oasis fan account, called Supernova, posted to X: “Ozzy will appear during Live Forever on the screens in London gigs 100% sure.” Commenters on the post seemed to be in agreement that this would be a likely occurrence at Oasis’ show at Wembley.
Osbourne had been vocal about his struggle with Parkinson’s disease since 2019, A family statement confirmed Osbourne’s death on Tuesday. It reads: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
A steady stream of fans have been visiting the Black Sabbath mural in Osbourne’s hometown Birmingham on Wednesday (July 23). Jimmy Smith, from Bristol, who was in the city to visit the Ozzy Osbourne exhibition at Birmingham Museum, stopped at the scene on Wednesday morning to pay his respects.
He said: “I did like Ozzy, I saw him a few times back in the day. It was quite sad yesterday (when he died), but with the concert at Villa Park a few weeks back, I had a feeling it was coming. It felt like his final bow. I was up here a few weeks ago for the Iron Maiden concert so I knew the mural was here, so I thought I would come and have a look, and I’ll also go to the Black Sabbath bridge before going to the museum.”
The Wonderwall singers will head to Wembley Stadium for seven nights, beginning on Friday, July 25; followed by further dates on Saturday, July 26; Wednesday, July 30; Saturday, August 2; and Sunday, August 3. There will then be an eight-week gap before the band returns to their final dates at Wembley on Saturday, September 27 and Sunday, September 28.
Shows will begin at around 6pm, according to the set times of their recent concerts, starting with the band’s opening act Cast and followed by second support act Richard Ashcroft at 7pm and then Oasis from 8.15pm.
Based on recent set lists at Cardiff and Manchester, predictions currently forecast that fans will be privy to performances of Wonderwall, Champagne Supernova, Don’t Look Back in Anger and many more.
