OJ Simpson dies aged 76 following cancer battle as family post statement

O.J Simpson has died aged 76 after battling cancer. The former NFL player passed away on Wednesday, April 11, surrounded by his family.

Simpson gained notoriety in particular for the 1994–1995 murder trials in which he was charged with the deaths of ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ronald Goldman. He was found not guilty on all counts in one of the highest-profile criminal cases in history.

The former running back spent 11 seasons in the NFL playing for only the Bills and San Francisco 49ers. Taking to X, on Thursday, April 11, Simpson’s official profile confirmed his death with a short statement. It read: “On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

“During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace – The Simpson Family.”
