A major retailer’s main website and app have been offline since earlier this afternoon with the shopping giant apologising and claiming it is down to ‘technical issues’
High street giant Marks and Spencers’ website and app have gone down following “technical issues”.
The retailer’s main website and app have been offline since earlier this afternoon. Its website currently reads: “Sorry you can’t shop with us right now. We’re working hard to be back online as soon as possible.”
Many shoppers have taken to social media to try and find out what has happened and express their frustration. One person said: “Is your app working? Can’t get it to open, thx.”
Similar comments included: “What happened to the M&S website?” and “Marks and Spencer, app and website down?” While replying to one of the people enquiring Marks and Spencer replied it had “technical issues” and that it was “working on it”. The Mirror has contacted Marks and Spencers for comment.
Last month Sainsbury’s apologised to customers whose delivery orders were affected by a technical glitch. Shoppers saw their online supermarket orders did not arrive on April 25 due to an IT issue. Sainsbury’s confirmed to The Mirror that the issue had been resolved and that only a “small” number of customers had been affected.
The supermarket said it was sorry for the inconvenience caused and issued those affected with a supermarket voucher. Those customers were told they would receive these good-will vouchers in their accounts within 24 hours.
In its original response to a frustrated customer asking why their order had not turned up, a Sainsbury’s customer service agent said: “I’m sorry for the tech issue. We’re aware there is an issue and we’re working to have it fixed ASAP. At this stage I wouldn’t be able to confirm when your delivery will happen.”
Others also took to social media to share their anger over the situation with one customer reporting that their 7:30am – 8:30am delivery had not arrived but they had still been charged They said: “@Sainsburys delivery was due between 0730 and 0830. It didn’t show and I’ve had no email and my card hasn’t been charged. Are you able to advise please?.”
