PC to appear in court over ‘inappropriate relationship’ with member of public while on duty

A Metropolitan Police officer is set to appear in court over an alleged ‘inappropriate relationship’ with a member of the public while on duty. He has been suspended from his duties while proceedings take place.

PC Peter Woodfine, attached to South Area Command Unit, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Wednesday, August 20). He has was charged with one count of misconduct in public office on Friday, July 18.

This relates to a series of incidents where he was alleged to have had an “inappropriate relationship” with a member of the public which acting as a police officer between June and September 2023.

The alleged offence took place when he was on duty. The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards have been informed.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Force said: “PC Peter Woodfine, attached to South Area Command Unit, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 20 August, charged with one count of misconduct in public office. He was charged on Friday, 18 July.

“The charge relates to a series of incidents between June 2023 and September 2023 where it is alleged that PC Woodfine engaged in an inappropriate personal relationship with a member of the public while acting in his capacity as a police officer.

“The alleged offence took place when he was on duty.”
