One of the emotions seen at every wedding is tears… Whether they’re of happiness or being overwhelmed, they’re bound to make an appearance at one point during the day

With weddings come a lot of emotions, pure happiness about finally getting to marry the person you love, joy over spending time with your family and even sadness for those who cannot be there to celebrate with you.

One of the emotions seen at every wedding is tears. Whether they’re of happiness or being overwhelmed, they’re bound to make an appearance at one point during the day.

People can get especially teary during the ceremony when the bride and groom say their vows, particularly if they are personal. When this happens, the bridal party might not have the option to have a packet of tissues due to holding bouquets, meaning that their make-up could run down their face and leave marks.

But one expert, Annette, who is a multi-award-winning wedding photographer from Belfast who owns 4EverPhotos, shared a genius hack she was made aware of while photographing a wedding earlier this year.

She spotted a makeup artist putting a cotton bud into the bride’s bouquet in case she began to cry.

Annette said: “While I was capturing the bridal prep, I spotted the makeup artist slipping cotton buds into the bouquet. Why? Because when those happy tears come (and they always do), tissues can smudge your makeup or miss those little corners of your eye.

“Cotton buds, on the other hand, can dab away tears without disturbing your look — and they’re right there in your bouquet, ready when you need them.

“It’s the little behind-the-scenes tricks like this that make wedding run much smoother.”

The idea is that the cotton buds are so small that they cannot be picked up in photographs and can be easily hidden in a suit pocket or within flowers..

The tip has been shared by dozens of professionals, with people describing the hack as “genius” and a “good idea.”

But others said they would need more than a cotton bud to contain their tears, and shared their own experiences and tips.

One person said: “Ohhh this is genius!!!” A second added: “A cotton bud would have done nothing for me. I cried big fat ugly tears. I needed a full roll of toilet paper for my tears!!”

A third penned: “Such a good tip. I’ll need them as the bride.” While another person said: “I bawled through my whole ceremony. I’d have needed a whole box of tissues shoved in my bust if I could do it again.”
