A man and a woman were seen going head to head in a hilarious dance-off at The Cooper Rose in Sunderland, leaving social media users in stitches after the video went viral online
The North East has a reputation for wild nights out — from cheap drinks to hilarious antics from drunken revellers — especially if it takes place in a J D Wetherspoons.
The Cooper Rose, Sunderland, offers punters ‘spoons prices with club-like atmosphere on the weekends, which can lead to some hilarious scenes being caught on camera. One such video, which was shared online by @hutch102, has gone viral online after a pair of Mackems were seen having a dance-off in the middle of the pub.
In the video, which has gained more than 7,000 likes, a bloke donning a pair of jeans and a black hoodie was seen challenging people around him with his moves. A few people almost joined in before he started doing the splits on the floor.
But as soon as he whipped off his hoody and started dancing around in his black t-shirt, a woman decided it was her time to shine. The middle-aged lass, with short blonde hair, was seen throwing shapes on the floor to Crazy in Love by Beyonce ft. Jay Z.
The club was buzzing with the sound of drunken cheers – and people on TikTok felt the same. One user said: “This is a vibe! Looks like they had a cracking time,” as someone else penned: “This isn’t even that bad. He’s enjoying himself anyways.”
Another added: “Life’s too short. Dance like no one’s watching. Good for them,” while a fourth commented: “Can’t believe the people of Sunderland are real.”
A bloke named Stephen Henry Donkin has since taken to the comments admitting to being the bloke on the dancefloor. He dubbed himself the “Sunderland no1 dancer.” To which, the original poster replied: “Can’t lie mate best thing that happened on the night, made the night entertaining, absolutely legend.”
As it turns out, the 36-year-old is known for his moves as others replied saying they “see him quite often in Glitter Ball” (another Sunderland bar). Others even tagged their friend’s simply writing: “It’s Stephen.”
