Person suffers ‘life-changing injuries’ after being struck by train near Watford

A person suffered potentially life-changing injuries after being struck by a train near Watford. Police were called to Bushey station shortly before 7.30am this morning (Monday, August 11) to reports of a casualty on the tracks.

The victim survived the incident, but was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. Train lines between Watford Junction and Euston were halted during the emergency services response.

This affected National Rail journeys, along with the Lioness line and part of the Bakerloo line. Services are expected to return to normal by 2pm this afternoon.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “We were called to Bushey and Oxhey station shortly before 7.30am this morning (August 11) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Officers attended along with paramedics and a person was taken to hospital with potentially life changing injuries. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
