Pez fans realise their childhoods were a lie after finally realising how to correctly load them

People have been left baffled to learn that there’s a ‘proper’ way to load up your Pez dispenser, with some saying they’d wasted so much time loading them one by one

Pez sweet dispensers were a staple of many childhoods, and it turns out that many people were allegedly loading them completely wrong – and the real way is so simple.

Many, many minutes in your younger years were likely dedicated to decanting each sweet one by one into the dispenser, which featured your favourite cartoon character at the time – and there were so many to choose from. Whether you had one that featured Mario, Miss Piggy, or Ariel, there was nothing quite like loading up your favourite flavour of the brick-shaped candy and pushing the head of your character backwards to dispense it. Seems simple, right? But it could’ve been so much simpler if you knew the correct way to load it up.

Rather than loading the Pez sweet by sweet though, and probably losing a bunch of them in the process, it turns out that you were actually supposed to put the whole packet in at once, and the mechanics of the Pez dispenser would deal with the rubbish. Who knew?

On social media, someone pointed out that “it only works with older ones, not the new ones”, so if you’re trying this hack with a new Pez dispenser, it’ll likely not work. However, people who spent ages putting the sweets in one by one in their childhoods will be left fuming.

In one TikTok video, showing the hack and then replicating it, someone said that their “life is a lie”, and another wrote: “Why didn’t I learn this earlier? Me earlier: inserting every single piece.”

Someone said that they’d wasted their time putting the pieces in one by one when they were younger, commenting: “Wtf, I grew up placing them in one by one.” “Wow, I was today years old”, an Instagrammer penned.

Others were so distraught about the revelation that they slammed the videos as “fake”, saying that they’d been “cut every time”.

The Mirror has contacted Pez for comment.
