Police hunt attacker after ‘distressing’ Sunbury stabbing

Police are hunting the perpetrator following a stabbing near the London and Surrey border which left a man in his 20s with serious injuries. The victim was attacked some time between 1.15am and 1.25am this morning (Thursday, May 29) on Vicarage Road in Sunbury-on-Thames.

He was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition. Vicarage Road was shut earlier today between Heathcroft Avenue and the junction with the M3 while officers carried out enquiries.

No arrests have been made so far, as Surrey Police continues to hunt for the attacker. A force spokesperson said: “Were you in the area around Vicarage Road between 1.15am and 1.25am this morning? Do you have any CCTV or doorbell footage, or information that might assist our enquiries? Please DM us quoting PR/45250063791 with any information that might assist our investigation.

“If you do not wish to leave your name, please call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“We understand that the public may be distressed by this incident, and there will be a continued police presence in the area today while our enquiries continue. Please speak to officers if you have any concerns.”
