A man who exposed himself to Tube passengers and masturbated on a travelator at one of the busiest Tube stations on the London Underground network is being hunted by police. British Transport Police (BTP) officers have released an image of a man they want to identify and speak to in relation to the sickening incident.

In the CCTV image provided by police, the man officers want to find is a bald black man wearing a navy or black t-shirt with white and blue stripes. Detectives believe he may have information to help with their investigation.

The sickening incident happened about about 9am on Tuesday July, 29 when a man was standing on a travelator at Bank Underground Station. There are two travelators at the major station. The first is located on a sloped tunnel and is used to connect the Waterloo & City line platform to the main concourse. This was Europe’s first travelator, installed in 1960.

The second was installed in 2022 as part of the station upgrade, it links the Northern line and DLR with the Central line. While it is not known exactly how fast these travelators move, the majority tend to operate between 1.2 mph and 2.5 mph.

Anyone who recognises the man is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference number 199 of 29 July. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
