Andre Wright-Walters was previously arrested for GBH and possessing cocaine
A man has charged with murder and cocaine possession after a pensioner died in hospital two weeks after an attack in South London. Andre Wright-Walters, 37, of Avery Hill in Greenwich, was arrested on Saturday (September 6), charged with murder on Sunday (September 7), and is due to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court today, Monday (September 8).
Police were called to reports of an assault on Balham High Road at around 3:40pm on Sunday, August 24. James Gbadamosi, 67, was take to hospital with life-threatening injuries and died in hospital last Friday (September 5). Police say his family are being supported by specialist officers.
Wright-Walters had previously been charged on August 27 with grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a class A drug, namely cocaine, after being arrested the same day. He appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court the next day and was released on bail to appear at Kingston-upon-Thames Crown Court on September 24.
A 30-year-old woman was also arrested on August 27 on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm. She was re-arrested on Saturday for conspiracy to commit murder and has been bailed pending further enquiries. A Met spokesperson added: “Witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to call 101 or post on X ‘@MetCC’ quoting CAD 4647/24Aug and upload it here.”
