Police rush to ‘man with gun’ at London Underground station and make arrest

Police raced to a Tube station during the morning rush hour in East London after receiving reports of a man being in possession of a firearm. British Transport Police raced to Elm Park Underground Station at around 7am today (Thursday, June 19) to reports of a man with a gun.

On arrival at the station in the area of Havering on the District line, they arrested a 61-year-old man on suspicion of being in possession of a firearm. He remains in custody at the time of publication.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called just after 7am today (June 19) to Elm Park Underground station following reports of a man in possession of a firearm. Officers attended, and a 61-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and taken into custody.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016, or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 109 of 19 June.”
