A postman was said to have “chosen violence” after deciding where to leave a parcel for someone. When Royal Mail delivers an item to a recipient and they’re not home, they often leave a red card with instructions on arranging a redelivery, or detailing a safe location where they can find their parcel.

TikTok user Kaiyu Lin got a surprise after receiving a red card which told him where he could find his parcel, which had been left near the “side of [the] blue bin” – but he doesn’t have a blue bin. In the footage, Kaiyu zoomed in on the red card before panning out to show his dark green bins.

He then moved the camera to the side to show the location of his parcel, which wasn’t near a blue bin at all but near his blue car, instead. Over the top of the footage, Kaiyu jokingly added the words: “The disrespect”.

In the caption accompanying the clip, he added: “Postman woke up and chose violence”. In the comments section, fellow TikTok users were keen to share their thoughts.

One person said: “Postie throwing shade”.

Another shared their own humorous encounter: “My email notification read ‘handed to resident’. It was beside the bin. The bin. I know I can look rough sometimes but I’ve never been mistaken for a bin.”

A third said: “Made me laugh so much”.

Someone else commented: “Mine usually takes a photo of my dogs barking in the window as the proof picture”.

Another quipped: “Postie forgetting he’s driving a red bin”.

One TikTok user shared: “Posties have a wicked sense of humour. The only time I’ve seen mine laugh is when he dropped the parcel marked fragile. The contents were fine and we both had a laugh.”

And another said: “I’ve had a notification on Amazon before ‘left by pool’. Where is this pool you speak of? We do not have a pool. Show me the pool!”

Someone else commented: “Nah I’d be laughing so much fair play”.

Another added: “I think he was too rushing or stressed out of his work load to have noticed it was actually a car, please forgive him”.

Some people theorised that Kaiyu had written the remark on the Royal Mail Something For You card himself in a bid to entertain people on social media.

Royal Mail states: “Sometimes we can’t deliver an item to you because nobody was there to sign for it, or if it was too big for your letterbox.

“We know you can’t always get to your local delivery office to collect it, so we are happy to make a Redelivery:

  • free to your own address
  • free to another address in your postcode area
  • or free to your local Post Office® branch.”
