NS&I has announced the latest Premium Bonds prize winners

NS&I has revealed the lucky winners of December’s Premium Bonds draw. The monthly draw offers substantial prizes, including £50,000 and £100,000, with two fortunate savers even bagging a whopping £1 million each.

The first millionaire is a saver from Cornwall, who struck gold with Bond 615WP633178. They purchased their winning Bond in February 2025, investing £20,000 in Bonds, which was also their total holding for the December draw. The second £1 million windfall went to a customer from Norwich, whose lucky Bond number was 591RD417238. They bought their winning Bond in August 2024, investing £35,000 in Bonds, which remained their total holdings for this month’s draw.

Every £1 Bond has an equal chance of being matched with a prize, with the odds currently standing at 22,000 to one per £1 Bond. However, most of the prizes are for more modest amounts, such as £25.

But don’t be disheartened if your holdings are small. As every individual Bond has an equal chance of being paired with a prize, you could still win big, explains the Daily Star. For instance, a saver from West Sussex with just £130 in Bonds walked away with a hefty £25,000 prize.

Many Premium Bonds customers have held onto their investments for decades, with some even striking it lucky. One Edinburgh resident scooped a £5,000 prize from Bond 1CB176282, purchased back in March 1965 with just £3 worth of Bonds. Their total holding was a mere £6 going into the December draw.

Another fortunate saver from Bristol, with only £10 in holdings, also bagged a £5,000 prize. Their winning Bond was 7KF515686, bought in July 1971. An Essex resident with just £12 in Bonds also pocketed £5,000. They secured their winning Bond 10KB097116 in January 1977.

Seven lucky winners who purchased Bonds over 30 years ago landed big prizes in the December draw. The full list includes their prize amount, location, winning Bond and purchase date:

  • £5,000 prize – Edinburgh – 1CB176282 – March 1965
  • £10,000 prize – Northern Ireland – 2CF586637 – November 1975
  • £5,000 prize – Bristol City Of – 7KF515686 – July 1971
  • £10,000 prize – East Suffolk – 3NB160832 – December 1978
  • £5,000 prize – Essex – 10KB097116 – January 1977
  • £10,000 prize – Buckinghamshire – 13BN653263 – May 1985
  • £50,000 prize – Buckinghamshire – 20PL502986 – January 1985

It’s worth bearing in mind that the best way to boost your chances of winning is by increasing your holdings, giving you more opportunities to win in each draw. Many people set up their accounts so any prize winnings are automatically used to buy more Bonds. The maximum amount you can hold is £50,000.
