A stern telling off included the famous ‘that’s enough now’ finger point from the Duchess of Cambridge – a gesture many stressed mothers everywhere will know well – and left George in tears

Prince George and his sister Princess Charlotte were given very important jobs at their Auntie Pippa Middleton’s wedding – page boy and bridesmaid.

The Cambridge kids were ushered into the church by their mum the Duchess of Cambridge and unlike Kate’s wedding to Prince William, the celebration was a private affair. However, that didn’t stop well-wishers and members of the press from standing outside the church to see the bride and her husband-to-be James Matthews arrive.

Whilst a wedding wouldn’t be as overwhelming now for 10-year-old Prince George, when he was much younger, little George got a bit upset on the day, breaking down in tears after the ceremony at St Mark’s Church in Englefield, Berkshire in 2017.

Leaving the church the Prince was pictured pulling a face as he led the rest of the children scattering confetti in front of Pippa and her new husband headed towards the waiting cars. However, during this time, Kate turned to her son and gave him a stern telling off.

The stern telling off included the famous ‘that’s enough now’ finger point that many stressed mothers everywhere will know well, and left George in tears. According to the Daily Mail, he was in trouble after Kate spotted him purposely stepping on the train of Pippa’s white lace Giles Deacon wedding dress.

The little prince spotted Charlotte doing it, so decided to join in. Oh dear. However, the prince wasn’t the only page boy acting up, as one appeared to stick out his tongue and pull a dubious finger gesture – right under Kate’s nose.

The bridesmaids on the big day were Countess Philippa Hoyos, Lily French, Avia Horner and Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, with Casimir Tatos, Edward Sebire, William Ward and Prince George acting as page boys.

But the tantrum was soon forgotten as Prince George was seen smiling sweetly and waving to the media as the cars drove the wedding party to the reception at the Middletons’ family home. To the prince’s credit, he played his role perfectly as he arrived at the ceremony, looking angelic as he prepared to walk down the aisle.

Adorably dressed in a white shirt, green trousers and long white socks, big brother George even appeared to help his sister Charlotte carry her flower arrangement. The Duchess was spotted shushing the children as they got a little too caught up in the buzz of the day just before the ceremony started.

While this upset was short and sweet, it’s not the first time he’s had a wobble in public. Back in 2015, he almost lost his cool at his sister’s christening, before a quick pep talk from his dad perked him right back up again.

After the ceremony, the newly married couple took a short drive to Pippa’s parents’ home in the nearby village of Bucklebury, where staff were waiting to dispense champagne and canapes to the happy revellers. The evening do at the marquee at the Middleton family home was for adults only, with a five-course meal, drinks and dancing until the small hours.

Guests included royals Kate, William, Harry and Princess Beatrice, plus celebs including Made in Chelsea star Spencer Matthews – the groom’s brother – and tennis ace Roger Federer. Keen not to steal the show from her younger sister, the Duchess wore an understated but very elegant outfit by Alexander McQueen, who designed her wedding dress back in 2011.

Her bespoke blush dress featured a v-neck front, a small peplum at the waist and buttoned cuffed sleeves. She accessorised with a matching rose-detail hat, her Gianvito Rossi suede pumps in praline.

Pippa and James welcomed a little boy, Arthur Michael William Matthews, in 2018 – a little cousin for George, Charlotte and Louis and a new nephew for Kate and Wills.
