As Prince George gears up for his role as future king by spending more time with father Prince William, one royal expert has weighed in on how much the youngster ‘idolises’ and looks up to his dad
It’s been a busy year for the royal family, with two serious cancer battles faced by King Charles and Kate, Princess of Wales, a terrifying riding accident for Princess Anne, and of course a string of high profile events held in their absence to keep the ‘firm’ running smoothly. Yet even amid that sea of testing circumstances, both Kate and her husband Prince William have remained devoted and loving parents to their three children, with one expert even having noted that they are “cut from the same cloth” as their parents.
Despite the rough start to the year, some normality does appear to have emerged in recent weeks, with Princess Kate stepping out at Wimbledon with her daughter Princess Charlotte, while Prince William headed to Germany with eldest son Prince George to cheer on England in the Euros 2024 final. And, although the heartbreak of England’s 2-1 loss to Spain rippled through the stadium and those back home, it proved to be a heart-warming father and son occasion.
“George and Charlotte really are cut from the same cloth as their parents,” former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK! “It’s very cute to see this pair out with their mum and dad… they obviously have a great relationship and perhaps they get a kick out of playing lookalikes.”

Looking at this closeness, relationship expert Nicky Wake also went on to echo Jennie’s comments, adding: “William and George looked adorable watching the Euros together.”
“The way George mimicked his dad shows that he idolises him in every way, whether it was cheering and hugging in joy at the goal, or sitting in devastation at the result. George looking over at William to copy his actions shows that he sees his father as a role model and aspires to be like him when he’s older.”
With George destined to one day follow in his father and grandfather’s footsteps to become the King, it’s perhaps no surprise that he is taking such a keen interest in his father’s mannerisms – with one human behaviour expert even having noted how the pair had taken to emulating each other during their recent outings.
“With Kate absent, William stepped up his nurturing behaviour with attentiveness and physical affection towards George,” explained human behaviour expert Jessen James. “Overall, the non-verbal cues between the pair painted a picture of a close, respectful father-son relationship built on shared experiences and emotional understanding.”
