It has been reported since that Prince Harry and Meghan did not know about her illness until the video was shared on Friday evening (March 22). Royal historian Richard Fitzwilliams said if this is true, it really shows how much Harry and his brother William have fallen out, reports The Mirror.
Richard Fitzwilliams told TIME: “It speaks volumes that Harry and Meghan learnt of the diagnosis from the news. The brothers reportedly haven’t been in contact for months and trust has completely broken down.”
In her video, Princess Kate said she hasn’t been seen much because her doctors told her to stay away. She said: “My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I’m now in the early stages of that treatment.”
In reaction to the announcement from Kate, illness, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex released a statement saying: “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.”
According to royal expert Chris Ship, both Harry and Meghan privately contacted their sister-in-law after learning of her condition. It’s unknown whether these communications were made via phone, video call, or messages.
Royal expert Tom Quinn suggests that if Harry and Prince William do reunite during Harry’s upcoming visit to the UK, the meeting will be brief and carefully planned to avoid any tense discussions. Harry is set to return to the UK in May for a celebration of the Invictus Games, with a meeting between the brothers thought likely.
Royal expert and author Tom Quinn claimed any meeting would be “carefully choreographed”. He told the Mirror: “Given Kate’s cancer diagnosis, Harry will certainly make efforts to see his brother and Kate when he returns to the UK in May if it happens at all it’s to be a very brief carefully choreographed meeting and organised to last a short time so that the brothers can avoid any difficult conversations.
