Donald Trump’s son Eric, who has been visiting the UK, made a scathing comment about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – months after they were also criticised by his father amid the row over Harry’s US visa
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been slammed by Donald Trump’s son in a scathing two-word remark.
Eric Trump, who has been visiting the UK, spoke out about the couple during a TV interview – and comes months after his father waded into Harry’s US visa row. The former president, who is seeking re-election, suggested earlier this year that the Duke of Sussex could face deportation over the ongoing controversy that he may have taken drugs.
Harry revealed in his autobiography Spare that he had taken cocaine, cannabis and magic mushrooms. And now in a new interview, Eric, 40, claimed the pair were not welcome in the United States, saying there would always be ‘spoilt apples’ in every orchard.
He told GB News : “What I can tell you is, my father had so much respect for the [late] Queen, as did I. My mum knew so many of them for years and had a great relationship with Diana. It’s a sacred institution. You can happily have those two [Meghan and Harry], we might not want them anymore, it feels like they’re on an island of their own.”
He added: “You can have spoiled apples in every orchard. The institution of the Royal Family is beautiful and is admired by many Americans. That should be protected.” Back in March, Eric’s father said there should be no preferential treatment in an interview with GB News when asked about Harry.
When probed by interviewer Nigel Farage if there would be any “special privileges” for the prince, Trump said: “No. We’ll have to see if they know something about the drugs, and if he lied they’ll have to take appropriate action.”
Digging deeper, the former President was asked: “Appropriate action? Which might mean…not staying in America?”” He responded: “”Oh I don’t know. You’ll have to tell me. You just have to tell me. You would have thought they would have known this a long time ago.
Harry’s claims about drug use in his controversial memoir Spare sparked questions about his US visa. Think tank group The Heritage Foundation launched a lawsuit requesting the royal’s visa application documents be made public to see if he received preferential treatment.
Harry has lived in the United States since 2020 after he and wife Meghan quit their royal roles to leave the UK and start a new life in the United States. They now live in California with their two children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
