Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are poised to face a ‘big test’ as their brand is faces challenges in coming months, it has been claimed by an esteemed royal expert
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle face a big test over the coming months as their brand faces challenges, according to an expert.
In 2020, the Sussexes signed a reported $100million (£78.6million) deal with Netflix, which is due to expire next year in 2025. Since they signed with the streaming platform, Harry and Meghan have worked on several projects including their six-part docuseries. They are now working on two more shows – one about polo, and one about gardening and cooking.
But as the couple edge closer to the end of their contract, an expert has warned that Harry and Meghan could face a challenging few months and could even run into financial woes.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told us that “perhaps, eventually he [Harry] will take American citizenship but this obviously distances himself from Britain. Whether the Sussexes are able to arrange another quasi-royal tour as they successfully did in Nigeria, is a big test for the potency of their brand.”
He then added: “They are working on new programmes for Netflix and Meghan has launched her lifestyle blog, American Riviera Orchard. They have lost Spotify, rather curiously Lemonada Media, which Meghan has joined, reportedly intends to place her podcasts on ice until next year. Nothing has come of rumours about Meghan and any political ambitions she might have.
“Yet since their $100 million contract with Netflix began, they have done hardly anything for it. It runs out next year and Netflix are no longer producing the series of The Crown, as they previously were. They might therefore have less interest in the Sussexes,” Mr Fitzwilliams noted.
He then warned: “If they lost this contract, with Archewell, their business and charitable foundation, having so few donors, they might well be in financial trouble. Since their exposes of royal life has made megabucks, but little else has made money, the Royal Family better hope that this unpredictable and ruthlessly ambitious couple stays with Netflix.”
