Prince William is estranged from his brother Prince Harry, with one source suggesting the Prince of Wales is now ‘jealous’ of Harry’s ‘freedoms’ since leaving the Royal Family

Prince Harry has a complicated relationship with Prince William, with one expert now suggesting the Prince of Wales “feels envious” of his brother.

The pair became estranged after Harry stepped down from the Royal Family and slammed William in his memoir, Spare. The Duke of Sussex detailed one explosive row with his brother during which William allegedly “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor.”

Harry now lives in America with his wife Meghan Markle and their two children. A source claims William is “a bit envious of [his brother’s] freedoms” and royal historian Ed Owens agrees, suggesting William is also “envious” of Harry’s achievements with the Invictus Games.

Harry set up the Invictus Games to support wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans. Speaking to Us Magazine, Ed said Harry has done “remarkable things”.

He added the Invictus Games “now has international presences, and I think that international stage is something both brothers are clearly vying for. That international limelight really sets Harry’s work apart.”

Royal commentator Robert Jobson agreed with Ed and suggested William has been caught off guard by Harry’s success with the Invictus Games. During an appearance on ABC News, he said: “I think there was a degree of jealousy about how well it had gone.”

He added: “I do think that William was surprised how much this had been such a success and how much money was being thrown into it and how many governments were getting involved.”

Harry has been open about his relationship with William, who he referred to as his “arch nemesis” in his book. Speaking to Good Morning America while promoting Spare, Harry elaborated: “There has always been this competition between us, weirdly. I think it really plays into or always played by the heir/spare.”

The Duke of Sussex will return to the UK next week for a special service to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. It’s unclear if members of the Royal Family will attend the event, but a source has told Us Magazine Harry has extended invites to his family.
