The Duke and Duchess of Sussex gave a joint speech as they appeared during an exhibition about black art and history the day before Princess Kate updated the world on her cancer diagnosis

Prince Harry appeared to be “an anxious sidekick” alongside wife Meghan Markle as the pair appeared at the Kinsey African American Art and History Collection’s event at SoFi Stadium.

The event saw the Duke and Duchess of Sussex speaking together as they gave a speech during an exhibition about black art and history, but Harry’s nerves were apparent as his body language appeared ‘nervous’ compared to his former actress wife’s performance.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, body language expert Judi James explained: “This is an interesting double act from Harry and Meghan who appear to have skipped the stage to stand on the floor to deliver their speech which is often a sign of a desire to connect less formally and more directly with an audience.”

James outlined that in comparison, Meghan appeared “more assured” than her “anxious side-kick” Harry as she pointed out: “Meghan, as always, looks like the more assured speaker here while Harry stands watching in silent agreement. Meghan’s raised brows and her emphatic one-handed gesticulation imply a passion for her subject while Harry stands clutching his mic with both hands and his lips sucked in like a slightly anxious side-kick singer waiting his turn to join in the chorus.”

At the end of last week, Princess Catherine revealed to the world that she had been diagnosed with cancer. The announcement came after weeks of speculation after the Princess underwent abdominal surgery at The London Clinic earlier this year. In response to the Princess of Wales’ health news being made public, Harry and Meghan shared a short statement. They said: “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.”

ITV’s royal editor Chris Ship, revealed that Prince Harry “reached out to his brother” after learning of Kate’s cancer. Ship also added: “Harry and Meghan have both been in touch with their brother/sister-in-law but did so privately. It not clear if that was a phone/video call or some messages of support.”

It was reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were allegedly “not told” about Kate’s health before the announcement was broadcast. But speaking exclusively to The Mirror, royal author and expert Tom Quinn explained this wasn’t the case and the couple were told about Kate’s cancer diagnosis before the announcement was aired around the world.

Quinn explained: “Harry and Meghan were told about Kate’s cancer diagnosis, but only a very short time before the television announcement. Telling them was a huge problem for the palace, because if they’d left Meghan and Harry in the dark until Kate’s TV broadcast there was a real risk the couple would have complained that once again the royal family was treating them badly.”
