Prince Harry is set to attend a service of thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral tomorrow to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games – and it appears he will not be joined by any of his royal relatives
Prince Harry is now in the UK for a very special event that’s incredibly close to his heart.
Tomorrow, he is due to attend a service of thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral to mark the 10th anniversary of his Invictus Games for sick and injured servicemen and women. The first edition of the games took place in London in 2014 and was attended by the likes of King Charles and Prince William.
However, when Harry appears for the event at St Paul’s tomorrow, it appears that he will be solo. Wife Meghan Markle is not joining him in London, and it seems none of his royal relatives will be in attendance at the event.
And according to former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond, Harry may come to regret the frosty relations between him and his family overshadow one of his biggest achievements. She told OK!: “Harry is not a bad person. He was always the most popular of the young royals and was fun, modern and warm.
“There must be a part of him now that profoundly regrets the rift he and Meghan have caused… he has no one else to blame. The path to making things right again is a rocky one, or, indeed, a near impossible one when it comes to William and Catherine.
“He’s here to celebrate the Invictus Games… and rightly so, it is a great achievement. But how telling it will be to see him there without a single member of the royal family present to salute his achievement. It will be a graphic illustration of what he has done to the family he still professes to love.”
While in London, Harry will not meet with his father King Charles, with the pair both scheduled to be in London together on Wednesday. A spokesperson for the duke said: “In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not the duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme. The duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”
There will also be no reunion between feuding brothers Harry and William as their relationship continues to be frosty. A source said: “Their relationship remains extremely fractured. Harry has privately expressed a wish to sit down with his brother but now is not the time.”
Harry is expected to be in the UK until Thursday when he will meet up with Meghan in Nigeria, where the couple are invited to take part in cultural activities. They are expected to meet military staff during the trip, which is linked to the Invictus Games. It is their first trip to the African nation, which holds a special place in Meghan’s heart having revealed last year she is “43 per cent ÂNigerian”.
