Prince Harry could travel to the UK to attend a major party for a billionaire heir and his new wife who wed in a lavish wedding last week, it has been reported.
Power couple Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant – dubbed the “Windsors of India” – married in Mumbai earlier this month, with their wedding expected to have cost upwards of $600m. Anant is the son of India’s richest man, the billionaire Mukesh Ambani, while Radhika is the daughter of a millionaire. Their nuptials saw the likes of Kim and Khloe Kardashian attend as well as former Prime Ministers Tony Blair and Boris Johnson. But it has been reported that despite the wedding, celebrations for the couple are set to continue.
According to The Sun, the power couple are set to travel to the UK for more celebrations at the prestigious Stoke Park Country Club near Slough. Stoke Park, a seven-star hotel, is owned by the Ambani family and more celebrations look set to continue there.
A source told the publication: “The Ambanis don’t do things by halves and so thought nothing of booking the entire venue for two months. The cost is chicken feed to them. The bride and groom and family will attend different parties planned between now and September. Security, which is tightened, has been told to expect Boris Johnson and Tony and Cherie Blair. Prince Harry is also said to be hoping to pop in.”
The newlywed’s wedding took place at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, also owned by the Ambani family, as well as their family home. The four-day wedding celebrations began with a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony, followed by a grand reception.
If Harry were to come to the UK for any celebration, it would be his first visit to his homeland since May, when he attended a service to mark 10 years of the Invictus Games at St Paul’s Cathedral.
Before that visit, speculation was rife that a reunion was on the cards between Harry and his estranged father King Charles. However, Harry’s spokesperson let it be known that there would be no reunion with his father due to the monarch’s busy schedule. However, that statement was later challenged after claims Harry decided to turn down an invitation from his father to stay at a royal residence because he had concerns about his security.
It was reported that the King agreed to a request to allow Harry to stay at a royal home, aware that his youngest son no longer has an official UK property – something that might have provided an opportunity for them to meet outside their busy programmes.
However, according to The Telegraph, Harry turned down the offer because it did not come with any security provision, and he would be staying in a “visible location with public entrance and exit points and no police protection”. Instead, as he has done on all his recent visits, Harry reportedly chose to stay in a hotel so “he could come and go unseen”.
The publication adds that Harry remains “devastated” about the withdrawal of his right to automatic police protection in the UK and has “become one of the biggest barriers to reconciliation with his father”. Earlier this year Harry suffered a major blow in his legal battle over the loss of his UK police protection after his bid to bring an appeal against a High Court ruling was refused.
