Kerry Katona has shared her views on reports that Prince Harry is set to return to England in the coming weeks after King Charles and Princess Catherine’s cancer diagnosis
Prince Harry “should be there” for William after the devastating news of King Charles and Princess Catherine’s cancer diagnosis, says Kerry Katona.
The singer and telly personality has never shied away from sharing her admiration for the royals and has called on Harry to reconnect with his older brother and sister-in-law. In recent years, the relationship between the Duke of Sussex and the Prince and Princess of Wales has become extremely hostile.
In his bombshell memoir, Spare, Harry recalled an alleged altercation with his brother, who threw him to the floor of his royal residence. Harry, 39, shocked the world in January 2020 when he and his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, announced they were stepping down as senior working royals and relocating to America.
Now, Kerry, 43, has shared her views on Harry’s trip back to the UK in the coming weeks. The Duke is due to give a speech to commemorate the 10th anniversary of The Invictus Games at St Paul’s Cathedral on May 8. It is not known whether he has plans to see His Majesty, his brother or relatives.
“I’ve seen reports that Prince Harry is coming back to the UK next month and might reunite with the family,” Kerry wrote in her OK! Magazine column. The former Atomic Kitten star went on to add: “I really hope he does. At this time they need to lean on each other and Harry should be there for his brother William.
“He has called Kate ‘the sister he never had’ and it would be great to see them all reconnect. But you never know, they might not want Harry to come home and he might not want to, either. I think the royal family have been thrown into turmoil. No one has had cancer for years and now both Kate and Charles have it. It’s so awful. I hope they’re all coping.”
In February this year, Buckingham Palace made a rare statement on the King’s health after tests discovered he had cancer. Despite his public-facing duties being postponed for the foreseeable, it was stated that His Majesty would still continue to carry out constitutional duties such as meeting dignitaries and the Prime Minster. The palace said the King was said to be remaining positive and planning a full recovery.
In January, Kensington Palace announced that Catherine had undergone planned abdominal surgery and said it was not cancer. Following weeks of speculation about the Princess, in a video released on March 22, the 42-year-old revealed that tests had discovered cancer and she had been undergoing chemotherapy since February.
