Prince Harry and Prince William reportedly exchanged some texts following Catherine’s cancer diagnosis, which could be an olive branch amid their ongoing rift, a royal commentator has said
Prince Harry texted his brother Prince William following Catherine’s cancer diagnosis as he and Meghan Markle were not given advance warning of it, a royal commentator has claimed.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly learned of the news at the same time the rest of the world found out when the Princess of Wales published an emotional video opening up about her diagnosis. The future queen began a course of “preventative chemotherapy” late in February but is said to have a positive mindset for her recovery and is in good spirits, describing herself as “well and getting stronger every day”.
The Sussexes issued a public statement saying: “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.” But it is thought that they also reached out to the Waleses in private, with brothers Harry and William exchanging some texts.

Appearing on GB News, royal commentator Sarah-Louise Robertson said this could be “an olive branch” between the two families following their ongoing rift. She said: “Harry reached out to his brother last night. There have been some text messages, some exchanges, and the fact that has happened shows that there could now be maybe a thawing and a bit of an olive branch between the two families.
“And I think, wouldn’t it be lovely if Harry could just make that apology? This is the time where you have to put all that bad blood behind you and you come together as a family. Catherine’s diagnosis has put everything into perspective, the silly things that they were feuding about, it seems so futile.”
It comes after an insider said the Sussexes were not informed about the diagnosis before it was made public, as they told the New York Post : “They had no idea, and only learnt of the news around the same time the rest of the world found out. This goes to show the irreparable damage they have caused.
“The trust has been broken and the royal family is OK distancing themselves from them.” Following Catherine’s diagnosis, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said this could be the “perfect opportunity” to mend tensions in the family while also putting all conspiracies to bed.
He told The Sun: “This is a dread situation, a major operation followed by cancer. There is always sometimes in the most awful and serious thing sometimes opportunities come as well… one must hope there is as much positivity as possible that’s what she is spreading with the message like that. This is also an opportunity for the trolls and the evil people spreading malicious rumours to be silenced.”
And PR expert Ryan McCormick said the speed of the message Harry and Meghan sent the Waleses seems to show a “positive” sign for their relationship with the royals. He told The Mirror: “The speed for which it came out is positive. The gravity of this situation may be so large that it could melt away long-held grievances. Yes, Meghan and Harry have their faults but, family is family. Their feud could very well end immediately.”
