Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are believed to want to keep their children out of the public eye for as long as possible, but there’s a very real reason why they don’t show their faces

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have made it their priority to hide their children from the spotlight – and there’s a heartbreaking reason for their decision.

Over the weekend, the Duchess of Sussex, 44, seemed to accidentally shared a glimpse of their two children, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four, as she posted a clip of her husband, 41, carving a pumpkin.

Meghan presumably only intended for the Duke of Sussex to appear in the footage, but the video inadvertently captured the faces of their kids as they dashed about in the background.

This led Meghan to quickly edit the video as the royal couple hold firm views about their children’s faces not being made public. This is thought to stem from their wish to shield Archie and Lilibet from the spotlight for as long as possible.

While it is understood they want their children to enjoy this privacy during their childhood, there is also a deeply troubling reason why they don’t want their faces to be revealed. This is thought to be due to concerns for their safety.

A source previously told PEOPLE: “Harry has been reluctant to show his children publicly, not out of a desire to hide them but to protect their privacy and safety from potential threats. He wants them to lead as normal a life as possible without the fear of kidnapping or harm.”

While Meghan has shared images of her children on Instagram before, their complete faces are never displayed. For example, when they visited Disney earlier this year, Meghan only uploaded photographs of her children from behind or with emojis obscuring their faces. This situation is unlikely to change in the near future, particularly not until the children are grown up.

It comes as Harry and Meghan had all eyes on them on Tuesday as they spent the night at the baseball. The couple were handed the best seats in the house as they cheered on the LA Dodgers at Game 4 of the World Series.

They have proved how they are deeply ingrained in Los Angeles life as they supported their local team in baseball merchandise on Tuesday night. TV cameras were sure to pick them out in the crowd as Harry and Meghan cheered on the team.

The pair clearly looked like they were enjoying their front row seats, which are worth tens of thousands of dollars. Former basketball player Magic Johnson and baseball icon Sandy Koufax sat behind the Sussexes in the second row.

Magic is a part-owner of the team while Sandy is a four-time World Series winner and Hall of Fame pitcher. Before the game, Harry and Meghan were seen smiling and greeting fans as they made their way inside.

Meghan sat next to Harry, who was in the aisle seat, as they both opted for matching outfits. The couple wore LA Dodgers caps, black trousers, white tops and a navy jacket.
