Prince Harry and Prince William continue to have a strained relationship and a royal expert believes their fallout could leave the future king without one of his ‘top advisers’

Prince Harry’s strained relationship with his older brother Prince William could prove costly in the future, according to an expert.

The brothers’ bond has been fractured of late, especially after the Duke of Sussex’s public outing of their issues. Harry took aim at his brother in television interviews as well as in his memoir, Spare.

While some have speculated the pair could once again grow closer amid the ill health in their family, notably their dad King Charles and William’s wife, Princess Kate, it appears any reconciliation is a long way off.

And royal expert Charles Rae believes their ongoing issues could lead to the the future king being “deprived” of someone who should be his closest aid. Speaking to The Sun, the expert claimed: “They were really, really close. And this is what makes it so sad that they’re now so far apart. When William becomes King, I always believed Harry would be one of his top advisers. I think that’s out of the window.”

Rae continued to say the brothers’ late mum, Princess Diana, always wanted her boys to remain as close as possible. “They had each other,” he said. “And it was them against the rest of the world but of course now it’s not happening.”

In his book, Harry accused his brother of calling Meghan “difficult”, “rude” and “abrasive” and alleged William “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor” during one explosive fight.

Following the news of Charles’ cancer diagnosis, Harry had seemingly left the door open for a potential royal return. He was reportedly set to offer his services to his father on a temporary basis following his dad’s health scare, but last month it was said the only way he could return is if his brother agreed.

Former royal butler, Grant Harrold, suggested to The New York Post at the time: “He [Harry] could have a discussion with his brother about resuming his royal duties, but obviously there is so much that has happened over the last couple of years and that needs to be sorted out before the Sussexes made a permanent return.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down from their royal duties in 2020. Harry appeared on Good Morning America in February and said: “I have got other trips planned that would take me through the UK or back to the UK, so you know, I’ll stop in and see my family as much as I can.”
