The recent trip of Prince Harry’s back to the UK was nothing short of a resounding success, with the Duke of Sussex all smiles as he conducted engagements with causes close to his heart and finally reunited with his father, King Charles.

The possibility of the monarch meeting up with his youngest son had attracted a lot of speculation in the lead-up to Harry’s visit, and it was only confirmed when the Duke’s car pulled up to Charles’s London home, Clarence House. Both sides have kept pretty tight-lipped about the meeting, which saw the father and son enjoy tea together and spend just under an hour together.

Amid Harry’s long-term battle with the Home Office, which saw him try and get his automatic police security reinstated – something he eventually lost – he had not seen his father for 19 months, admitting in an interview that the legal challenge he had brought against the government was a factor. However, new reports have claimed that going forward, he wants his children, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, three, to spend significantly more time in the UK, for one major reason.

Friends of the Duke of Sussex were quoted in the Daily Mail saying that Harry hopes that his children will receive their education in the UK.

“I can tell you that Harry wants to educate the children here in the UK,” the friend told the publication. They claimed that he had a discussion with the Duke while he was in the country last week.

“Harry feels his children are missing out on the extensive family network that their niece and nephews are enjoying,” they continued.

“Harry wants his children to have the very best education. He has retained his closest friendship group of confidants from his days at school at Ludgrove and Eton. He wants that for his own children.”

However, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, would need to be sold on the plan, and is reported to find the idea of sending children to boarding school cruel. The friend claimed that there would be “some negotiation” from Harry to have with Meghan.

The source alleged that the King was “delighted” over the plans, implying that Harry had mentioned the idea to his father.

The Sussex children are still very young, so the prospect of them being sent abroad to boarding school would likely not happen until they were much older, if it happened at all.

Harry has been explicit that the main reason he does not bring his children to the UK is the lack of automatic police security for himself and his family. He and his legal team have previously said that the private security he employs for his family does not have the jurisdiction or adequate intelligence to keep the Sussexes as safe as the police would.

The Mirror has contacted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for comment.
