Prince William made a quip about wife Kate while out on a recent royal visit – and royal expert Jennie Bond says it speaks volumes about their marriage

Prince William proved his true feelings for wife Kate with a telling quip that speaks volumes about their partnership, according to an expert.

It came as William headed to North Wales, where he visited the Youth Shedz organisation – which creates a safe space for young people who might be experiencing challenges such as school exclusion, bullying, and other social issues, such as homelessness.

While speaking to the organisation’s founder, Scott Jenkinson and his wife Sian, William and Scott quickly bonded and spoke about the importance of having a strong supportive figure by your side. “Were you there with Scott when he turned his life around?” William asked Sian, after hearing of Scott’s previous challenges with homelessness and addiction. “He has done well to turn his life around.”

Sian replied: “He has, he really has,” to which Scott said: “With my wife behind me. You know that.” William, who is approaching his 15th wedding anniversary with the Princess of Wales, nodded and replied: “This is it. Behind every average man there is an even better wife.”

And former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told the Mirror : “I thought it was a sweet comment, which showed just how equal their partnership is, and how much William values Catherine’s support and advice in everything he does. We women also know that it is absolutely true!

“Men are brilliant in so many ways, but it really is almost always the woman of the house who juggles a million balls to keep everyone on track, on time, properly kitted out and happy. I’m sure Catherine is no exception. And good on William for acknowledging this universal truth!”

William and Kate try to keep their family life with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, as private as they can. However, earlier this month, William gave rare a glimpse of life behind palace walls, and explained how much of hands-on parents both he and Kate are.

In an interview with Luciano Huck for Brazilian TV, he joked: “I’m the taxi driver, Luciano. Taxi driver, sports days, matches, playing in the garden, where I can. School run, most days. I mean, Catherine and I share it. She probably does the bulk of it.”

In the candid interview, he also revealed how he and Kate decided to tell their children everything about her cancer diagnosis after their difficult questions. Last year, which William himself previously described as ‘brutal’, saw not only Kate but his father, the King, also receive a cancer diagnosis – and he is still receiving treatment.

Kate embarked on a course of preventative chemotherapy, which was completed last summer. At the beginning of this year, she told how she was now in remission.

He said: “Every family has its own difficulties and its own challenges, and I think it’s very individual and sort of moment-dependent as to how you deal with those problems.

“We chose to communicate a lot more with our children. Sometimes you feel you’re oversharing with the children. You probably shouldn’t, but most of the time, hiding stuff from them doesn’t work.”
