Plaque set to be installed in Two Brewers pub where Prince William enjoyed pint of cider in TV programme
It’s a table in a beautiful old English pub – right by the ladies loo – which is set to be one of the most sought after in all of England. Prince William famously sat here in The Two Brewers, right next to Windsor Castle, sipping a pint of cider in his recent Apple TV programme. Already tourists have started arriving at the pub, which dates back to 1792, asking to sit on “the throne.” Landlord Stuart O’Brien, 47, said: “I think I may have to get a plaque made and put up on this table now.
“I’m sure people will love coming here to sit where the future King had a drink.
“Some people have already been in specifically because they saw the programme and knew about the pub.” Stuart who has worked at the Two Brewers for 13 years and has been landlord for past year.He added: “Prince William came in a couple of weeks ago and he sat at the table at the back of the pub. “He had a pint of cider – Inch’s. It’s £7.50 – but obviously we didn’t charge him.
“It really was a privilege to have him here in the pub – he was such a lovely guy. He came with the actor Eugene Levy as part of a TV programme “The Reluctant Traveller.
“Eugene had a Guinness with him.” Americans and German visitors are already coming as a result of the programme. As I interviewed Stuart two Japanese tourists on the next table asked for Inch’s to drink.
Delta Airlines pilot Stuart Fraser, 44, from Seattle, said: “I watched the programme and Prince William came across really well. “I came here to the Two Brewers to have a pint where Prince William did the same. I really like the cider it’s very nice.”
The Two Brewers was founded in 1792 and the sign at the front proudly says: “The Two Brewers – Dedicated to Life, Liberty, Food, Drink and Other Less Serious matters.” The “Prince William table” is located in a section of the pub called “That bar.”
It’s under old metal antique signs for companies like Excel Meat Deliveries. And there’s a sign above the Ladies which says: “Toilets for pub customers only. This is a public house not a public toilet.”
In the “The Reluctant Traveller” William won praise for his comments to Levy. In a revealing conversation, the actor asked Prince William about his future role as King.
“I think it’s safe to say that change is on my agenda,” he said. “Change for good, and I embrace that, I enjoy that change. I don’t fear it, that’s the bit that excites me, the idea of being able to bring some change. Not overly radical, but changes that I think need to happen.”
During the tour of some of the castle’s grandest rooms, Prince William also spoke about his family history. He said: “I think if you’re not careful, history can be a real weight and an anchor around you, and you can feel suffocated by it, and restricted by it too much.
