A royal expert has explained why Prince William seems as ‘strong as ever’ during his trip with Prince George to watch their favourite team – Aston Villa – play amid Kate’s health difficulties
For the first time since Princess Kate made the emotional announcement that she had been diagnosed with cancer, Prince William and Prince George made a public appearance. The pair squeezed in some much-needed father-son time at Aston Villa’s match against Lille in their Europa Conference League match at Villa Park – which the royal duo’s favourite team won.
Following the appearance, an expert has claimed that William seems just as ‘strong as ever’ despite the hugely difficult time he is going through. Both his wife and father King Charles are being treated for cancer and are unable to undertake royal duties for the time being, leaving William trying to balance his duties as the future King with his responsibilities to his family.
During the match, cameras panned to William and George, 10, who was wearing his Aston Villa scarf proudly, and the father and son were seen chatting away about the match.
Judi James, a body language expert – told The Mirror that despite the difficulties their family is facing at the moment, the bond between William and his son looked as “strong as ever” and even as though they might be growing to be close friends as George is getting older.
“It’s the normality of the body language here that is so happily reassuring. This is William and George doing what they have always done together, not as royals but as a dad and his son enjoying the football,” she said.
“Their mirroring is as strong as ever here, with their style of clapping and their poses and facial expressions looking twinned make George look like a ‘chip off the old block’. Mirroring is an intense trait with William and Kate, defining like-minded thinking and mutual respect and the same increasingly applies to William and his young son.
“William bends to discuss the play as though chatting to a friend, meaning his son is growing into the role of someone whose company he can enjoy. They clearly share the intensity signals of fans savouring an exciting game here although the cameras missed the actual celebrations when the ball first went into the back of the net.”
William is expected to return to royal duties and engagements once the children have returned to school after their Easter break, while Kate will remain out of the public eye for the time being as she focuses on her recovery.
