Prince William is believed to have last seen his brother at the funeral of their uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, in August 2024 – and is said to have no interest in reconciling

Prince William and Prince Harry show no signs of reconciling any time soon, and the future King hinted at his family drama while speaking with soldiers of the Army Air Corps in Wattisham, Suffolk.

William made a telling comment as he visited Harry’s former regiment and spent time with the troops and their families.

Dressed in camouflage fatigues and wearing the blue AAC beret, the prince asked one soldier if he spent enough time with his family. He then teased: “Some of them might not want to see you that much. It’s a mixed bag sometimes.”

William’s remark, which he made in June, came weeks after Harry said in a BBC interview that he would “love reconciliation” with his family. “Life is precious,” the Duke of Sussex had said. “I don’t know how much longer my father has. He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff. But it would be nice to reconcile.”

In his memoir Spare, Harry detailed his strained relationship with William, alleging his brother physically assaulted him, among other shocking revelations. In the book, Harry further called his sibling both his “beloved brother” and his “archnemesis”.

While he has since had a brief reconciliation with King Charles, Harry is not believed to have seen William since the funeral of their uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, in August 2024. William is said to have no interest in reuniting with his brother – but he did make a brief mention of Harry during his recent appearance on The Reluctant Traveller with Eugene Levy.

As the Prince gave the Schitt’s Creek star a tour of Windsor Castle, William set out his approach to the monarchy, saying, “I want to question things more”, but added that central to his world was his family life with Princess Kate and their three children.

The heir to the throne also candidly described how his wife’s cancer battle left him overwhelmed, revealed his children do not have mobile phones, and said he aims to create a “world in which my son is proud of what we do”.

During the course of the episode, his estranged brother only came up once when William revealed his hopes to not repeat the past when he ascends the throne.

He said: “I hope we don’t go back to some of the practices in the past that Harry and I had to grow up in. And I’ll do everything I can to make sure we don’t regress in that situation.”

William’s single mention of his brother is one of just a handful of times that he has talked about him publicly since he and Meghan quit as working royals and moved to California more than five years ago.

And former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told the Mirror : “The mention of Harry is indeed fleeting and I think it would be wrong to spend much time talking about it. But I suppose it does show that William hasn’t blocked his brother completely from his brain.

“They shared a traumatic childhood and adolescence, and nothing can ever change that part of their history. It was only natural for him to include Harry when talking about his childhood, but I don’t think we should read more into it than that.”
