A man has been taken to hospital following a bus crash on Putney High Street this afternoon (June 25). He was struck between Lacy Road and Chelverton Road just before 2.30pm and suffered an arm injury.
Paramedics took him to a major trauma centre where he remains in an unknown condition. Putney High Street was shut to traffic for over three hours whilst police carried out an investigation.
This led to congestion tailing back across the River Thames to Bishops Park in Fulham, with Lower Richmond Road and Putney Bridge Road also facing disruption. Transport for London also diverted bus routes 14, 39, 85, 93, 424 and 430 but this is now over.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Officers responded to a collision involving a pedestrian and a bus in Putney High Street, Putney at 14:30hrs on Wednesday, 25 June. The pedestrian was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.
“His condition is yet to be confirmed.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 2.28pm today (25 June) to reports of a road traffic collision on Putney High Street, SW15. We sent ambulance crews and a paramedic in a fast response car to the scene.
“We treated a man for an arm injury and took him to a major trauma centre.”
