Prince Harry explained that the late Queen often praised a certain aspect of Princess Kate’s appearance
Queen Elizabeth II had a three-word compliment she would use for the Princess of Wales, Prince Harry once revealed. Princess Catherine is understood to have developed a strong relationship with the late monarch, who mentored her and prepared her for her future role as Queen.
Whilst the late Queen was believed to be encouraging of many of Catherine’s projects and choices during her time as a working royal, there was something else she particularly admired – her lengthy, dark hair. According to the Duke of Sussex, the late Queen appreciated it when women wore their hair loose and was particularly keen on Catherine’s curls.
In his autobiography, Spare, he recalled the occasion when Meghan Markle was introduced to King Charles and Queen Camilla: “Meg looked beautiful and I told her so.
“She was wearing a black-and-white dress, with a full skirt, patterned with flowers, and when I put my hand on her back, I could feel how delicate the material was.”
He continued: “Her hair was down because I suggested she wear it that way. Pa likes it when women wear their hair down. Granny too. She often commented on ‘Kate’s beautiful mane’.”
Catherine’s bond with the late Queen was examined in a Channel 5 documentary released last year, entitled Kate and The Queen : A Special Relationship, reports the Express.
The Daily Mail’s Richard Kay commented in it: “I don’t think she really trusted anyone on first impression, we’re all performing the same show, the show is supporting the Queen.
“But with Kate and the Queen it grew deeper than that, there was a real grandmotherly affection between the two.”
Author Ingrid Seward stated: “I think the Queen saw her strength and saw that she is a caring person who had this amazing affiliation to duty.
“I think Kate would have really appreciated the kindness and attention the Queen had given to her, and she knows better than anyone how busy the Queen is. She put time aside to make Kate feel appreciated.”
