Metropolitan Police officers were sacked for sexual offences, drug taking, and lying on the job in what was another busy month of tribunals at the UK’s largest police force. The most disturbing case involved PC James Gage who met a mentally ill woman while working at a police station, embarked on a sexual relationship with her, then was accused of rape (he was not charged).

Another worrying case involved PC Max Haywood, who took photos at a rape scene then shared the photos with friends on Snapchat and WhatsApp, alongside captions that referenced ‘bum rape’ and ‘bum juice’. A bizarre case involving PC Aaron Goodman also heard about his abuse of female partners, lies about military service, and claims he took home handcuffs to use for sex.

Brighton sex attacks

Former Police Constable Georgie Gregory was found guilty of three counts of sexual assault after a trial at Bright Hove Crown Court in June 2025, and handed a 12 month community order with 80 hours unpaid work. The offences involved a woman who FPC Gregory attacked while drunk on a night out in Brighton in February 2023.

FPC Gregory would have been dismissed if still serving.

Coked-up cops

Police Constable Alfie Jones failed a drugs test in June 2025, testing positive cocaine use while on-duty. PC Jones was dismissed without notice. Another PC, anonymised as PC A, tested positive for cocaine in April 2025 and was also dismissed without notice.

Taxi driver punch-up

Police Constable Lee Tilson assaulted two taxi drivers in Chelmsford, Essex, in March 2024 in a dispute over the fare. The tribunal heard he punched one driver in the chest multiple times, and grabbed another driver through the window. PC Tilson was jailed for 18 weeks at Chelmsford Magistrates Court in July after admitting both offences in May this year.

PC Tilson was dismissed without notice.

Drink driving

Police Constable Danny Appleyard admitted drink driving at Luton Magistrates Court in May 2025, where he was fined £645 and banned from driving for 22 months. PC Appleyard claimed he was wrongfully convicted due to poor legal representation but provided no evidence for an appeal. His assertion was rejected by the misconduct panel.

PC Appleyard was dismissed without notice.

Lying on the job

Police Constable Faizan Mamoon ‘lied in writing to his supervisor’ after attending a domestic violence callout.

PC Mamoon was left to speak to the complainant and then fill out a form on the police computer system, which the panel found he did properly. But an allegation that he falsely responded to a subsequent question by his supervisor, concerning his questions to the complainant, was found proven.

PC Mamoon was dismissed without notice.

Car damage

Former Police Constable Stephen Morris was found to have intentionally damaged two cars near his home – a red Toyota in August 2024 and a grey Mini Cooper in October the same year. CCTV footage caught him scratching the vehicles. The tribunal did not hear why.

PC Morris was dismissed without notice.

Trouser hole poking

Police Constable Rebecca Stubbs put her finger through a hole in a Officer A’s trousers, touching his genitals; pinched Officer D’s bum in a cafe for ‘banter’; rubbed Officer B’s head and asked ‘Are you growing it?’; touched Officer C’s ‘bald, sweaty’ head and wiped her hand on his uniform; and hugged Officer C and said ‘I like to hug sweaty men’.

All the allegations were proven and PC Stubbs was spared the sack with a three-year final written warning.

Bum-groping detective

Detective Sergeant Christopher Arnold groped a female officer’s bottom at an Inspector’s leaving party in 2021, then later told her he ‘enjoyed it’. The panel found there was ‘no possibility of it being an accident’.

DS Arnold was dismissed without notice.

Sex with mentally ill woman

Police Constable James Gage was accused of raping a mentally ill woman who first attended Acton Police Station to report a cyber attack in 2020 but remained in contact with the officer over Instagram.

The pair entered a consensual sexual relationship, but an allegation of rape was made after a time Ms A claimed she drank gin, said she was too tired, then ‘lay there like a dead fish’ as PC Gage penetrated her.

PC Gage was arrested and denied the rape allegation. No further action was taken, but the investigation into misconduct in public office continued, by which time the woman had been sectioned in hospital. The panel found PC Gage had entered an inappropriate sexual relationship with a vulnerable complainant, who has schizophrenia.

PC Gage would have been dismissed if he was still serving.

Rape scene Snapchat

Police Constable Max Haywood took photos of a live crime scene then shared them on Snapchat and WhatsApp with his friends. One message included the line ‘the chamber I was in, someone got bum raped’. Another said ‘I had to legit sit there all night and smell chlorine and bum juice next door’.

PC Haywood would have been sacked if he was still serving.

Military service lies, cosplay outfits, and controlling women

Former Police Constable Aaron Goodman controlled his police officer girlfriend by restricting her movements, communications, and finances; lied about serving on foreign military tours; and pointed weapons at her.

The PC was also caught with a stash of imitation guns, a Taser, Met Police handcuffs, armour plates, helmets, and fake Counter Terror/Firearms Officer badges. An ex-girlfriend living in America also made claims of coercive behaviour against PC Goodman.

When he was arrested, PC Goodman admitted lying about being in the French Foreign Legion and fighting in Mali, while claiming the Taser was used for cosplaying as a Trojan officer and the handcuffs were for sexual purposes.

PC Goodman would have been dismissed without notice if still serving.

Hate crime probe lies

Police Constable Warren White wrote a misleading email in relation to an investigation into an alleged homophobic public order offence. PC White told the complainant the case was to be dropped for lack of evidence, despite multiple coherent witnesses being present at the scene.

The officer also claimed the complainant had not returned his calls or messages, without producing any evidence of this. The complainant only hit back at the lies because he was employed as an LGBT advisor within the Met.

PC White was dismissed without notice.

Heaven Nightclub breast grab

Police Constable Sijanta Thapa sexually assaulted a female tourist by touching her breasts at Heaven Nightclub in January 2024. Nightclub staff were immediately informed and PC Thapa was arrested. PC Thapa claimed the woman was ‘acting in a manner that implied consent’, but this was rejected by the panel.

PC Thapa would have been dismissed without notice if still serving.
