Metal detectors can be a great way to find some serious treasure in your back garden. Now one TikTok user revealed the rarest coins to ever be discovered in the ground

If you own a metal detector, you’ll know how great it feels to find some treasure.

You might discover an old watch or anything metal that’s incredibly valuable. But if you’re really lucky, you might stumble on a few rare coins from centuries ago which could be worth an absolute fortune.

Now over on TikTok, user @CoinCollectingWizard recently showed a metal detector discovery where an old coin pouch was located in the ground. While he didn’t specify where it was found, he revealed the contents of the purse.

Posting a video with his 167,700 followers, the user said: “Detected a coin pouch. Here are some of the rarest metal detecting finds. The 1905 Half Crown, with only 166,008 ever made. You can easily grab between £450 and £10,000 depending on the condition.”

He then turned his attention to the 1853 4p Grout which has a very low mintage of 11,080. The user added: “The poorest condition can fetch £230 but can go up to £2,000. We also have the 1869 1p and we are not sure how many were made. Imagine finding this in great condition and bagging yourself £5,000. Unbelievable.”

And finally, the last coin found in the pouch was the 1851 One Shilling with only 470,071 made. This can sell between £100-£2,000. Since the clip was shared earlier this week, it garnered 300 likes and dozens of comments.

One wrote: “I’ve got so many coins from metal detecting, I really need to go through them mate. How are you finding the metal detecting? Great hobby mate.”

Then the original poster replied: “Yeah love it mate. Now considering an upgrade, send me photos next time you have the coins out and I’ll help you mate.” Meanwhile a second chimed in: “The first is selling on eBay for £4.50 and £200.”
