Rylan Clark has hit back at claims that his night out to see Oasis was a ‘freebie’, after sharing snippets of the band’s Wembley gig on social media. The BBC Radio 2 presenter was among a star-studded crowd who flocked to the north-west London stadium to witness Noel and Liam Gallagher reunite on stage in the capital for the first time in 16 years.
Oasis made their highly anticipated comeback at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, belting out an impressive 23 songs from their iconic repertoire, including hits like Roll With It, Stand By Me, Wonderwall, Champagne Supernova and Don’t Look Back in Anger. Prior to this, the band hadn’t performed together since V Festival in 2009, which ended in a backstage brawl at a Paris gig and ultimately led to the band’s break up.
The Oasis Live ’25 Tour then moved on to Manchester, the band’s home city, for five gigs at Heaton Park, attracting hundreds of thousands of fans, regardless of the weather, reports the Manchester Evening News. Next up was London over the weekend, with even more fans descending on Wembley to catch the start of Oasis’ seven-night stint.
This comes as it’s estimated that Oasis will play to around 630,000 people before they jet off to North America to conclude their UK tour. Among the celebs there to see the Burnage brothers perform was Rylan, who later took to social media to share a sneak peek of his VIP experience, posting videos and photos from a box at the stadium.
Accompanying the post, which also included Ferne Cotton and Davina McCall, the television and radio personality shared: ” The best night with the best people [red heart emoji] @oasis.” While a multitude of Rylan’s followers were thrilled to catch a glimpse of his time at the concert, not all the feedback was positive. One user grumbled: “All Instagram is these days is ‘celebrities’ showings us norms what we can’t afford to do,” to which another chimed in: “Freebies…..”
Rylan, spotting the remark, appeared to set the record straight about footing his own bill, responding: “lol I wish.” But Rylan isn’t alone in receiving such remarks after attending an Oasis event. Radio 2 colleague Vernon Kay was one of the first to witness Liam and Noel Gallagher reunite on stage for their Oasis Live ’25 tour kick-off in Cardiff, Wales, earlier this month.
Yet, one show wasn’t enough for the presenter from Bolton as he made his way to Oasis’ Manchester comeback. Vernon posted a video on Instagram from the initial homecoming performance, where he’s seen donning sunglasses and a New York Cosmo’s shirt, belting out the lyrics to Live Forever.
He captioned the post: “Manchester! Day1. @oasis The excellence continues! Bravo! !” However, some followers questioned how he managed to get his hands on more tickets, as evidenced by the comments on his Instagram post. Twitter user @lfcarbz queried: “How did Vernon get so many tickets? Cardiff now Manchester!” to which Vernon responded: “Paid for them! !” Another user, @alanthomas1965, commented: “A lot of people couldn’t get tickets for 1 gig youve managed 2 I wonder how that is,” prompting Vernon to jest: “Smashed the credit card, Alan!”.
