On the bank holiday Monday, May 27, the majority of larger Sainsbury’s stores will be open from 8am until 8pm – Scotland stores may be open later due to different trading laws
Sainsbury’s opening times may be a little different this late May bank holiday weekend – so it’s important to know when your local shop will be open.
The supermarket told The Mirror that the vast majority of its larger supermarkets will be open from 7am until 10pm on Saturday, May 25, then from 10am until 4pm on Sunday, May 26. Scotland stores have different trading rules for Sundays – because of this, larger Sainsbury’s stores are generally open until 10pm on Sundays.
On the bank holiday Monday, May 27, the majority of larger Sainsbury’s stores will be open from 8am until 8pm. Again, Scotland stores may be open later due to different trading laws. When we checked online today, some were scheduled to be open until 10pm.
Sainsbury’s Local convenience stores will be open as usual from 7am to 11pm on the bank holiday Monday. Opening hours can vary though, so Sainsbury’s is advising customers to check its online store locator for the latest details for their area.
It comes after Sainsbury’s reported a 1.6% rise in underlying pre-tax profits to £701million for the year ending March 2. Its total grocery sales surged by 7.3% in the fourth quarter and 9.4% over the year, as sales volume increased due to easing inflation.
However, Argos sales fell by 6.6% in the fourth quarter and clothing sales dropped by 11.7%. Despite these challenges, Sainsbury’s is optimistic about its future earnings, predicting a rise in 2024-25. The company shared: “We are confident of delivering strong profit growth in the year ahead.
“We expect to continue to grow grocery volumes ahead of the market, driving profit leverage.” Simon Roberts, Sainsbury’s chief executive, attributed the company’s success to its focus on affordable food, stating it was “winning us customers from all our key competitors”.
