Sainsbury’s has added pizza to its meal deal for the first time ever, and shoppers are overjoyed. The supermarket giant now includes a slice of the Italian treat in the bargain lunchtime deal
Supermarket giant Sainsbury’s has given its Meal Deal a major revamp and – for the first time ever – pizza is on the menu. The supermarket’s decision to include a slice of the Italian favourite in its £3.95 meal deal has been hailed as a “game changer” by shoppers. II mean, could there be anything better than that?
The supermarket chain, which competes with the likes of Asda, Morrisons, Tesco, Lidl and Aldi, explained on its website: “If you would like to take advantage of our ‘Meal Deal’ offers online, simply link your Nectar and Sainsbury’s account.”

It continued: “The ‘Meal Deal’ offers are subject to availability and products within the offer must be purchased together to get a saving. You will be able to see all items that form part of the ‘Meal Deal’ offer on the Sainsbury’s website at the time of the deal, with full terms and conditions.”
One thrilled customer exclaimed: “What a time to be alive,” while another declared the move a “game changer”. One shopper even noted the generous size of the pizza slice, estimating it to be between 8-10 inches long, and another confessed to a sudden “renewed interest” in meal deals.
For those without a Nectar account, they can download the Nectar app or join online at nectar.com to start enjoying the benefits immediately, including a digital card in the app or added to their phone wallet, reports Birmingham Live.
The supermarket giant explains: “If there is a ‘Meal Deal’ item/s substituted or an item/s which is not within the ‘Meal Deal’, a voucher will be sent to you which will take up to 72 hours for the difference to be used against a future Sainsbury’s online grocery order.”

“We’ll email you an evoucher code and will pop a copy in your online voucher wallet. You can find your voucher wallet at online checkout. The voucher can be used for online groceries only and won’t expire for 2 months.”
Sainsbury’s lunchtime meal deal is priced at £3.95 and features a main course, snack, and beverage. Shoppers can also grab a premium £5 meal deal featuring upmarket selections from the Taste the Difference collection. The bundle is crafted to deliver savings when buying the products as a package.
Interestingly, Sainsbury’s is on the list of the top three supermarkets offering the cheapest Meal Deal to shoppers, with the cheapest prices at Tesco and Asda, which charge £3.60 and £3.50, respectively.
